Not Just Video

As a professional videographer, cinematographer and film-maker since 1975, I have had the opportunity to spend a great deal of time filming in fashion and entertainment, educational, medical, industrial and corporate settings. I have interviewed thousands of people involved in those professions and produced hundreds of films and videos about them.

In my role I get a unique perspective about these professions and companies that often transcends the perpective of those directly involved in the endeavor. Although I am a temporary outside observer, for brief periods of time I observe from the inside and get up close and often very personal insight. I often witness and record the passions, concerns, struggles, triumphs, conflicts and emotions of the people who are the heartbeat of whatever enterprise I am filming.

Since what I film is not for the nightly news (it is always my role to make my clients look as good as possible) and in part because I am not a permanent part of the endeavor, as soon as I turn the camera off, people often talk to me with a sense of safety and comfort that they can freely tell me exactly how they feel because I will be gone in a day or two. So I have many thoughts, insights and opionions about practically everthing I have observed.

I have also pickup up a thing or two about the creative and technical sides of producing films and videos so I will also offer professional expertise and opinions about topics related to film and video production.
